Elcometer 106 Tensile Adhesion Tester
This simple, portable Type II adhesion gauge gives a numerical value for adhesion. It is suitable, for example, for testing paint on plasma-treated bridge decks, coatings applied to steel, aluminium, concrete, etc.
- Supplied in a carrying case - ideal for on-site testing
- Fully manual - works without a power supply
- Includes cutter for EN13144 and ISO 4624 testing
Test method
A test pin is attached to a coating using adhesive. The model 106 includes a spring assembly which exerts a tensile force on the stud as the tension increases.
When the coating is released from the surface, an indicator on the scale shows the numerical value of the adhesion (force required to release the pad).
The face of the stud should be inspected to determine the mode of failure. To increase sensitivity in the presence of low values or uneven surfaces, a 40 mm (1.52") stud is available. When the 40 mm (1.52") stud is used, divide the reading by 4.
