Elcometer 138 Soluble Abrasive Contamination Test Kit - ASTM D4940

This contamination can be transferred to the stripped surface and result in accelerated corrosion and also cause premature coating failure, if not removed prior to coating application.

On-site testing of abrasives for soluble salt contamination can be carried out quickly and easily on site using the Elcometer 138 Abrasive Soluble Contamination Test Kit, in accordance with ASTM Method D4940.

A measured volume of abrasive is mixed with the same volume of water and agitated to allow any soluble salts to dissolve in the water. The resulting suspended mixture is left to settle and the filtered water can then be tested using a conductivity meter.
