The Elcometer 224 is available in two different models: Model B and Model T. Each gauge offers the user enhanced functionality - from the entry level Model B, to the most advanced Model T which contains memory, alphanumeric batch measurements and Bluetooth® connectivity.
Standard and shielded probes are available on separate models, allowing greater measurement flexibility. Elcometer surface measurement probe tips are supplied with a glass zero plate and calibration test sheets (nominal values) as well as a calibration certificate.
3 measurement modes
Whatever your test method or standard, the Elcometer 224 Digital Surface Profile Gauge has a wide choice of easy-to-use measurement modes.
Custom Mode In Custom Mode, all you have to do is choose whether you want to take 5 or 10 readings per measurement, and specify the value you want to display and save in the batch memory: average, maximum value or minimum value of the readings taken.2 | Standards Mode Select the International Standard you are using and the Elcometer 224 will automatically adapt the data collection method accordingly. If you select ASTM D 4417, you can even choose to save the average or maximum value as a measurement in the gauge's memory. | Immediate mode Take overhang-to-underhang measurements and save them in batch memory2. The Elcometer 224 automatically calculates and displays key statistics as you continue your inspection. You can also set limits to trigger an alarm when a measurement is outside the acceptable range. | ||||
Measuring the Surface Profile
1. To take accurate measurements and calibrate the gauge on a glass zero plate, check that your probe is positioned at 90° to the substrate.
2. To take a spot measurement, take 5 or 10 readings on a surface 100mm (4") in diameter.
3. Depending on the measurement mode you have chosen, the gauge will display either the average protrusion height or the maximum value of the 5 or 10 readings taken.
4. To define the average surface profile of an area, take 5 spot measurements for each 1m x 1m (3ft x 3ft) area.
Wireless connectivity
Instantly transfer your measurements, statistics and limits - via USB or Bluetooth® - to your PC or mobile device using ElcoMaster® software or your own application to create professional reports in minutes.
The Elcometer 224 gauge incorporates the latest surface profile measurement technology.
